New MMIC VCO w/Buffer Amplifier Features High Output Power & Low Phase Noise

Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced a new MMIC VCO which provides low phase noise and high output power for point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, VSAT, military and test equipment applications from 7.1 to 7.9 GHz. The HMC532LP4 (E) low noise VCO integrates the resonator, negative resistance generator, varactor diode, and buffer amplifier. With a +5V tuning voltage, the HMC532LP4 (E) exhibits high output power of +14 dBm and low single sideband phase noise of -101 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset. Output power and phase noise performance are excellent over temperature, shock and vibration due to the oscillator’s monolithic structure. The HMC532LP4 (E) low noise VCO accepts a tuning voltage from 1 to 13 V, and provides an output frequency from 7.1 to 7.9 GHz making it ideal for driving the LO port of many of Hittite’s Double-Balanced Mixers, Image Reject Mixers, and I/Q Receiver products. The HMC532LP4 (E) operates from a +3V single supply, consumes only 85 mA, and is housed in a RoHS compliant 4 x 4 mm leadless SMT package. The HMC532LP4 (E) requires no external matching components and shares a common PCB footprint with Hittite’s broad line of SMT packaged VCOs providing output frequency coverage from 2.05 to 24.8 GHz. Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
