Antenna Magus

Antenna Magus is the first antenna design tool of its kind. Its huge searchable collection of antennas can be explored to find, design and export models of the designed antennas to CST MICROWAVE STUDIO.

Amplifier Technology Ltd. Shaves 50% From GaN Amplifier Design Time Using AWR's Microwave Office Software

Gallium nitride (GaN) is increasingly the choice of defense system amplifier designers because of its inherently higher power density than silicon or GaAs and broadband capability. However, customers want amplifiers that fully exploit GaN’s advantages in smaller and smaller packages.

Solutions for PCB Electromagnetic Interference

In today’s world of highly complex Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs, designing to meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) targets is a necessity. A step that is often times neglected during the early design stage is the design of a robust power delivery network (PDN).

Introduction to MIMO

Modern radio communication systems have to provide higher and higher data rates. As conventional methods like using more bandwidth or higher order modulation types are limited, new methods of using the transmission channel have to be used. Multiple antenna systems (Multiple Input, Multiple Output – MIMO) gives a significant enhancement to data rate and channel capacity. This application note gives an introduction to basic MIMO concepts and terminology and explains how MIMO is implemented in different radio communications standards.

Selex Assesses Lightning Protection Systems for Radar with CST MWS

"Protecting a mobile Radar unit from lightning strike is a very demanding task," commented Americo Dominicis, Selex-SI. "CST MWS, in particular its time domain simulation capabilities, helped us to understand the impact of various parameters on the specification of an LPS before running expensive, time-consuming tests."

HSPA+ Technology Introduction

High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) optimize UMTS for packet data services in downlink and uplink, respectively. Together, they are referred to as High Speed Packet Access (HSPA). Within 3GPP release 7 and 8, further improvements to HSPA have been specified in the context of HSPA+ or HSPA evolution. This application note introduces key features of HSPA+ and outlines the changes to the radio interface.

ATSC Mobile DTV

This application note describes ATSC Mobile DTV standard A/153, ATSC-M/H. This standard is completely implemented in the R&S®AEM100 ATSC-M/H Emission Multiplexer.
