 Raytheon Co. demonstrated their successful prototyping of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) technologies into the US Patriot Air and Missile Defense System radar. In addition to enabling future 360 sensor coverage, these technologies will significantly increase the defended area and decrease the time to detect, discriminate and engage threats. The introduction of GaN-based AESA technologies will also further improve reliability and lower the life cycle costs for the Patriot radar, beyond what has already been achieved with other recent Patriot radar improvements. 

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has awarded Raytheon Co. an $8.5 million base contract to design the Flexible Distributed Array Radar (FlexDAR), enabling dynamic multi-mission radars capable of executing a variety of functions including surveillance, communications and electronic warfare.

An international customer signed an agreement with the U.S. Government for a foreign military sale (FMS) of tube-launched, optically tracked, wireless-guided (TOW) missiles to be supplied by Raytheon Company in a deal valued at approximately $750 million.

Raytheon signed a contract with BAE Systems to provide South Korea integrated AESA radar, electronic warfare, mission computing technologies and weapon systems integration. 

Raytheon Co. announced that its Board of Directors has elected Dr. Thomas A. Kennedy, age 58, to serve as the chief executive officer of Raytheon Co., effective March 31, 2014. Dr. Kennedy will succeed William H. Swanson, who has served as the CEO of Raytheon Co.since 2003, and who advised the board of his intention to step down from his position as CEO in March, following his 65th birthday next month.

Raytheon Co. has received a resume work order from the U.S. Navy to commence development of the new Air and Missile Defense Radar. The order followed the official Government Accountability Office update of its database to reflect the status of the AMDR contract award protest as withdrawn.

Raytheon Co. plans to increase the size of its Forest manufacturing facility by more than 20,000 square feet and hire more than 150 new workers, Raytheon and state officials announced.

Raytheon Co. fired 84 precision-guided Excalibur Ib all up rounds during qualification flight tests at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz. During the testing, Excalibur Ib exhibited exceptional accuracy, with the majority of the rounds landing within two meters of the target. The tests also certified stringent performance and safety requirements.
