GigOptix announced signing a definitive agreement to acquire Terasquare, Co. Ltd., a Seoul, Korea-based, fabless semiconductor company and provider of low power, CMOS high speed communication interface semiconductors for 100 Gbps Ethernet, Fiber Channel and EDR Infiniband applications.

Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI) acquired ASC Signal Corp., which designs and builds advanced satellite communications, radar and high-frequency antennas and controllers. ASC Signal's high-performance antennas are used in commercial and government satellite communications, terrestrial communications, imagery and data transmission, and radar and intelligence applications.

 Technicolor has entered into an exclusive agreement with Cisco to acquire its customer premises equipment (CPE) business for €550 million (or $600 million equivalent) in a cash and stock transaction, reviewed by the Boards of Directors of the two companies, which will be on a cash free, debt free basis. The acquisition should result in Technicolor’s Connected Home segment reaching adjusted EBITDA in excess of €200 million by year end 2016 and best-in-class profitability (i.e.8-9% adjusted EBITDA margin) by 2017. 

Lockheed Martin has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sikorsky Aircraft, a world leader in military and commercial rotary-wing aircraft, for $9 billion. The price is effectively reduced to approximately $7.1 billion, after taking into account tax benefits resulting from the transaction.

Combining two highly complementary innovators, the acquisition enables Cree’s Power and RF business to extend its leadership position and help to accelerate the market for high-performance, best-in-class SiC power modules.

NXP Semiconductors held an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders and Freescale Semiconductor held a Special General Meeting on NXP’s acquisition of Freescale. Both meetings approved the merger proposal with over 99 percent of the votes cast in favor.
