Gary Lerude

Gary Lerude is the Technical Editor of Microwave Journal. Previously, he spent his career as a “midwife” aiding the growth of the compound semiconductor industry, from device to application, from defense to commercial. He spent 19 years at Texas Instruments, 11 years at MACOM and six years with TriQuint. Gary holds a bachelor’s in EE, a master’s in systems engineering and an engineers degree (ABD) in EE.

The following items caught my eye last week:

Raytheon's APG-79(v)X AESA radar completed a successful flight test, demonstrating enhanced capabilities for the F/A-18C/D.

Mercury Systems received a $2.3 million order for digital signal processing modules for a signals intelligence application and a $4.3 million order for digital signal processing subsystems for shipborne radar.

Huawei projects 2014 revenue of $46.5 billion, 20% above 2013. The consumer segment grew 32%, carrier networks 15%. Per Bloomberg, Huawei held a 5.1% share in smartphones in Q3, making them the #5 player.

Keysight released GoldenGate version 2015.01, improving speed and capability for silicon RFIC design.

ANADIGICS confirmed their prior guidance that Q4 revenue will be 8 to 12% above Q3. Net cash is projected at $14.4 million, up from $9.5 million at the end of Q3.

MACOM introduced a 7 W pulsed PA with 28% PAE and 23 dB gain. Targeting S-Band radar, the device is balanced to provide good matching and ruggedness.
