Siklu claims to have produced the first SiGe-based E-band transceiver for wireless backhaul, following the announcement of the availability of a 70 GHz SiGe low-cost transceiver for high-speed applications that uses the licensed 71 to 76 GHz spectrum. The transceiver is the main building block in a series of technology and concept breakthroughs that is expected to facilitate a revolution in cost and power for wireless backhaul.

Izik Kirshenbaum, Siklu's Co-founder and CEO, stated, "Until now, 70 GHz products have been severely constrained by the high cost of the radios, based on Gallium Arsenide or Indium Phosphide modules. Siklu's integrated transceiver uses Silicon Germanium technology, involving a state-of-the-art process technology, and a novel RF and system design to offer a full suite of high-speed radio links at a fraction of the price of any available radio today."

He continued, "Given this integration advantage that results in a truly innovative system design, mobile operators can capitalize on the massive bandwidth available in the millimeter-wave spectrum in the most cost-efficient way."

Those attending the Mobile World Congress (15 to 18 February 2010) in Barcelona, Spain, will be able to find out more by visiting the Siklu Stand at the show.
