Vishay Intertechnology Inc. announced that Vishay Semiconductor Italiana S.p.A., a high power products division of the company, has been chosen to be one of the eight initial corporate participants in the Turin Polytechnic Institute's new Business Research Center.

Located in the Institute's extended campus area known as the "Polytechnic Citadel," the Business Research Center is the first of its kind on an Italian campus. The facility goes beyond being a business incubator, as the center is dedicated to the research units of businesses that are not only already in the market but, in many cases, are leaders in their respective industries.

With roughly 4,000 square meters, a limited number of businesses interested in partnerships with the Turin Polytechnic Institute have been given space in the new center. Of the 89 companies that have shown interest, eight companies were selected, including Vishay.

The Business Research Center hopes to become a privileged location for the exchange of academic and industrial knowledge and a forum in which to develop innovative, high-profile ideas. In addition to the impact it will have on research and education, the Polytechnic Citadel, as it is currently structured, will create some 1,300 new jobs for young researchers.
