Keysight Technologies, Inc. announced the successful completion of the interoperability development tests (IoDT) of phase 2 of China’s IMT-2020 5G trials. Keysight assisted global network equipment manufacturers (NEM) in accelerating their 5G key technology validations. Throughout the year of phase 2 testing, Keysight partnered with Huawei, ZTE, Datang, Ericsson and Nokia Shanghai Bell. Together, the companies completed interoperability development tests and successfully fulfilled the IoDT tasks in phase 2 of the 5G trials.

Keysight relied on the 5G expertise of its R&D and application engineers to implement the customers’ solution strategies—effectively promoting test progress and solving difficult technical problems in a cooperative test environment.

Keysight used advanced 5G candidate signal generation, demodulation and analysis solutions during phase 2 of the 5G trials—which are the industry’s first 5G test solutions. The resulting solution consisted of Keysight’s UXA signal analyzer, the industry-leading broadband signal analyzer—supporting up to 110 GHz; and its broadband signal source, supporting up to 44 GHz and a bandwidth of greater than 2 GHz. Also included was Keysight’s 89601B VSA software and K3104A Signal Optimizer calibration program for 5G candidate signals. The Keysight solution provided customers with excellent RF performance—an error vector magnitude (EVM) of around 1 percent at 26 GHz carrier frequency and 800 MHz bandwidth—thus minimizing errors caused by the test equipment itself and revealing the real performance of the device under test (DUT). With this hardware and software solution, combined with its 5G expertise, Keysight successfully supported, and completed, the interoperability development tests for multiple industry partners.

“China’s IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group is an important organization for promoting the development of 5G technology,” said Steve Yan, vice president and general manager of Greater China Field Operation, Keysight. “We are glad to see the efforts and great results we are making in promoting 5G technology advancement and in helping Chinese and global NEMs accelerate the validation of their 5G key technologies.”

“5G is a significant opportunity for China’s telecommunication industry,” said David Wei, general manager of China Communications Operation, Keysight. “The successful completion of IoDT of phase 2 of China’s IMT-2020 5G trials fully demonstrates our strong 5G R&D and technical capability.”

With China’s continuing work in the IMT-2020 5G trial and 3GPP standardization process, Keysight will continue to closely engage with its partners to contribute to the advancement and commercialization of 5G.
