TEST EQUIPMENT

Waveform Simulator
The model UCS500M/6 waveform simulator has been modified to accommodate anticipated higher voltage requirements for testing to IEC and EC standards for electromagnetic compatibility, household, industrial and medical electronics, and telecommunications requirements. In addition to surge, waveforms simulated by the unit include burst, power and pulsed magnetic field, power fail, and voltage dips and interrupts. Electrostatic discharge, contact and air are optional.

10 Hz - 2.5 GHz RF Voltmeter
The model 9230 dual-channel RF voltmeter performs highly accurate voltage measurements over the 10 Hz to 2.5 GHz frequency range. Capable of measuring voltage from 200 mV to 10 V, the microprocessor-based voltmeter measures RF voltage at an accuracy to one percent of the reading at full scale. The menu-driven, 20-character x four-line liquid crystal display offers 0.001 resolution and can display bar graphs of data from both channels simultaneously. Users can change the voltage display to millivolts or volts, RMS or peak, as the application requires. High impedance probes and accessories allow the unit to measure unterminated, terminated and thru-line measurements at either 50 or 75 W characteristic impedance. Using the 75 W probe, the voltmeter can be used to measure video signals. Price: $3590. Delivery: six weeks (ARO).

3 - 40 GHz Manual Microwave Tuners
The MMT-4003 series highly accurate and jitter-free manual microwave tuners are designed for use in critical RF impedance-matching operations such as load-pull and noise measurements. The units generate G of approximately 0.9 or higher over the 3 to 40 GHz frequency range. Two vertically and horizontally independent probes allow prematching and selectively high SWR (up to nearly 50). Insertion loss is 0.1 to 0.9 dB with the probes extracted.

GSM900 and DCS1800 Base Station Test Set
The HP 8935 series model E6382A GSM base station test set produces reliable, repeatable test results quickly and easily for GSM900 and DCS1800 networks. The unit provides the functionality needed to measure transmitter, receiver, combiner and associated antenna performance from 0.4 MHz to 1 GHz and 1.7 to 2 GHz. The test set utilizes base station manufacturer-specific software, which is loaded from a PC card. The software configures the test set automatically and provides graphical information about the RF and Abis connections. The test set comprises a spectrum analyzer, built-in source and downloadable software that can be used for swept antenna measurements and cable-fault location. Price: starts at $37,800.

SWR Monitoring Systems
The Communication Antenna Testing Systems (CATS) series SWR monitoring systems offer enhanced RF diagnostic capabilities in cellular and PCS sites using Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS), narrowband AMPS, GSM, TDMA or CDMA protocols. The units are installed in the cell sites with an in-line sensor element in each antenna feed line, enabling measurement of power and SWR without disrupting the site. The units address several requirements, including low cost SWR alarms for service providers who only need Form-C relay closure, free-standing CellGuard™ power/SWR monitors with liquid crystal displays, and complete cell site antenna monitoring and power measurement systems.

Near-field Scanners
The 6900 series near-field scanners provide a high performance, cost-effective solution for planar near-field antenna measurements. The units feature state-of-the-art brushless linear motors in both the x and y axes to provide high speed and acceleration with minimum vibration. The motors contain a noncontact drive system that allows the x and y carriages to move across the stationary axis frames on precision linear bearings. As a result, the scanners operate with reduced vibration and frictional wear, eliminating many of the planarity errors commonly caused by rack-and-pinion, lead screws, belt drives and other contacting drive systems. The scanners' integrated control system is capable of scanning in x and y axes at speeds greater than 30" per second.

RF Channel Emulator
The TAS 4500  FLEX4PLUS series RF channel emulator emulates RF channel conditions such as multipath delay spread, fading and path loss. The unit can be used to evaluate eight-branch antenna array systems and can be configured to synchronously model eight independent RF channels while providing programmable control of channel characteristics across four instruments from a single user interface. Price: starts at $34,950. Delivery: four to six weeks.
