The microwave industry kicks into high gear in February with a full tradeshow schedule for the next few months. In February, we have events such as the International Solid State Circuits Conference, Military Radar Summit and National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE). March features Mobile World Congress, Electromagnetic Compatibility and Signal Integrity (EMCSI), Satellite, International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) and GOMACTech. Then April goes around the world featuring EDI CON China, Microwave & RF in France, Wireless and Microwave Technology Conference (WAMICON) and AUVSI Unmanned Systems.

On the editorial side, our February High Frequency Components, Boards and Systems themed issue looks at a new thermoset PCB material that is emerging as an alternative to PTFE based laminates for demanding mmWave applications. Some thermoset materials now rival traditional laminates in performance at higher frequencies while still remaining easier to process during manufacturing.

Our March Test and Measurement themed issue is always one of the most popular months for editorial. This year’s cover feature is written by Dr. Truchard, co-founder and CEO of National Instruments, and talks about how platforms are driving innovation in RF and microwave system design.  March also includes our annual Cable and Connector supplement that will feature leaky wave cable technology and how these products are modeled, designed and used in applications where traditional antennas do not perform as well such as airplanes, tunnels and skyscrapers.

Don’t forget that IMS 2015 is a month earlier this year so our IMS show issue will be April this year. With IMS 2015 in Phoenix, Ariz., our April issue’s cover story will be about the history of Motorola and the significant spinoffs that influenced our industry.  Leonard Pelletier (aka RF Leonard) of Freescale semiconductor lived through many of these transformations from the old Motorola days so will chronicle the history of this giant in the wireless industry from an RF perspective. We also will have coverage of the IMS, RFIC and ARFTG conferences and exhibition including products from our advertisers listed by booth number for easy reference at the show.

Microwave Journal is launching some very significant initiatives in 2015.  Please read Carl’s WaveGuide article about our new video platform that going live this month and stay tuned for a big announcement about EDI CON USA coming to Boston in September of 2016.
