SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 25, 2010 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that Rick Eads, senior program manager for PCI Express® tools and solutions, has been re-elected to the PCI-SIG Board of Directors.

Formed in 1992, PCI-SIG® is chartered with development and management of PCI™ bus specification, the industry standard for a high-performance I/O interconnect for transferring data between a central processing unit and its peripherals. Currently, PCI-SIG manages PCI, PCI-X™ and PCI Express® specifications, including the upcoming PCI Express 3.0 specification.

Agilent has supported PCI-SIG and member customers with dedicated test products since the organization was established. Membership on the Board requires yearly ratification via a member-wide election process. Eads was first elected to the PCI-SIG board in 2007 and on June 23, he was re-elected to serve a fourth, 12-month term. By providing active leadership to continued development of PCI specifications, Agilent helps PCI-SIG shape future test requirements.

“Agilent Technologies is once again honored that the PCI-SIG membership has elected Rick to represent Agilent on the Board for a fourth term,” said Ron Nersesian, president and general manager of Agilent’s Electronic Measurement Group. “Having Rick serve on the Board helps Agilent ensure that customers who use the technology have the solutions they need to test PCI Express-based products for each revision of the specification, including the PCI Express 3.0 specification which is currently under development.”

Eads has more than 24 years of combined experience with Agilent Technologies and HP, serving in program management and strategic marketing roles spanning multiple divisions and product lines. Eads holds a BSEE degree from Brigham Young University and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado. Within PCI-SIG, and in addition to his role on the Board of Directors, Eads serves as a member of the Serial Enabling, Electrical, and Card Electromechanical work groups and has authored and contributed to PCI Express test procedures and related collateral.

“PCI-SIG is very pleased to have Agilent on the Board of Directors for a fourth term,” said Al Yanes, chairman and president of PCI-SIG. “PCI-SIG is very appreciative of the time, effort and resources associated with serving on the Board and recognizes Agilent’s continued global support of PCI-SIG activities, including workshops, technology seminars and the annual PCI-SIG Developers Conference.”

In 2010 Agilent introduced the Agilent Digital Test Console, which includes a PCIe Exerciser for PCIe 3.0-capable devices operating at 8 GT/s. Agilent also introduced the DSA90000-X Series of ultra-high bandwidth, real-time oscilloscopes offering upgradeable bandwidth to 32 GHz, which is needed to support the latest high-performance serial bus standards of 8 GT/s and higher.

PCI-SIG continues to update the PCI Express specification to meet the latest industry’s demands. Through interoperability testing, technical support, seminars and industry events, PCI-SIG enables its members to generate competitive and quality products.
