Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Power Solutions, was awarded by the US Department of Defense, a $7.9 M contract for repair, upgrade and new manufacture of high-voltage power supplies and high-voltage distribution units for the AN/SLQ-32(V) electronic warfare system. Under the contract, Power Solutions will work closely with the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, IN. These products are designed to drive multiple traveling wave tubes for jamming oncoming missile threats. The production is scheduled to begin January 2011 in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and is expected to be completed by September 2015.

Ed Fuhr, Vice President of Power Solutions for Crane Aerospace and Electronics, said, “We are pleased to have been selected and are convinced that with our clear focus on electronic warfare and radar systems and continued research and development, we can achieve current state-of-the-art modernizations and provide extended life support for this and other aging products.”

The AN/SLQ-32(V) countermeasure system is installed on most US Navy surface vessels, from frigates, destroyer classes to aircraft carriers, as well as several foreign military ships, and is the standard electronic warfare system that provides surveillance, warning and countermeasure against complex missile attacks.
