Skyworks Solutions Inc., an industry leader in radio solutions and precision analog semiconductors, announced that its extensive infrastructure portfolio continues to gain traction, having recently secured design wins with four of the industry’s top five infrastructure base station OEMs. Over the last two years, Skyworks has significantly invested in research and development to expand its cellular infrastructure portfolio and bring the same high levels of radio frequency (RF) integration to the cellular base station market as it has to mobile handsets, while at the same time gaining additional dollar content.

“With the launch of several differentiated products, Skyworks is offering its customers leadership solutions that speed time-to-market while reducing costs and overall footprints,” said Stan Swearingen, vice president and general manager for Linear Products at Skyworks. “Skyworks’ infrastructure portfolio is ideal for OEMs at any stage, from implementing system upgrades to developing next-generation 3G and 3.5G designs.”

According to Strategy Analytics, wireless infrastructure capital expenditures will increase to $70 billion by 2007, a more than 50 percent increase since 2003, reflecting the much anticipated build out of 3G networks required to handle the migration to WCDMA where handsets and base stations must process voice and data simultaneously.
