What Happens If We Bend a Coaxial Cable

November 21, 2023

When we bend a coaxial cable, we effectively change its cross-section. The more we bend, the less round it becomes, which changes cable's impedance (and insertion loss).

These effects become more significant the higher in frequency we go. Coaxial cables for mmWave applications, for example, are very sensitive to bending and overall deformation.
