I am a fan of the annual NCAA college basketball tournament, but that's not what I refer to. With March now upon us, the heat gets turned up on trade show activity. There are two pretty big ones this month, with Satellite taking place next week in Washington, DC and CTIA Wireless in Orlando, FL the week after that. If you’re at the Satellite show, look for us walking the aisles. If you plan to attend CTIA, stop by the RF/microwave pavilion and let us buy you a cup of coffee in the exhibitors lounge.

March also signifies that the IEEE MTT-S IMS (always a mouthful) is not too far away. We’ve booked our hotel rooms, have you? We’ve also outlined our annual show issue “added-value” opportunity for our advertisers, and it’s a print ad/e-mail broadcast combo. That’s right; you get your pre-show message out in print and online at no additional cost.

Here’s how it works. All full page advertisers will be included in one of approximately ten “IMS Exhibitor Preview” e-mail newsletters. Each newsletter will be categorized by product/technology type and sent to 10,000 targeted readers. For example, if your company sells amplifiers, you’ll be grouped in the amplifier-focused newsletter, if your company sells test equipment, you’ll be included in that edition, and so forth. Each advertiser will be allowed one graphic, fifty words of text and one link. You can opt to have us pick up your May issue “New Product” release or submit something different on the form that your sales rep will provide to you upon receipt of your print ad order. We think that this will give you an effective one-two marketing punch to drive traffic to your booth and get your message out to more than 50,000 RF/microwave professionals in print and online.

If you like the idea of e-mail broadcasts, you may want to consider a dedicated e-mail blast to your targeted audience. Our list broker, Statlistics, can assist you with this. Click here for their contact information and more details.

We will be producing our annual “IMS Show Dailies” again this year. These newsletters go to our full database and feature IMS previews, news, events, product launches and commentary. Exclusive sponsorships are available for each edition and are a great way to gain exposure before, during and after the show. There are a very limited number of sponsorships available on a first-come basis. Contact your sales rep for more information or to book your edition.

MWJ has organized a special panel session on “Nonlinear Measurements” to be held as part of the IMS MicroAPPs program on Wednesday, June 8th from 12:30-2:30 pm. This session will feature speakers from Agilent, Anritsu, Rohde & Schwarz and Tektronix. It’s a hot topic featuring some of the industry’s top experts on the subject, so make sure you’re there early to secure a seat if you’re interested.

Well, I leaped from March shows to the May issue to the June IMS show without mentioning our April issue. This edition is our annual “Amplifiers and Oscillators” theme, with bonus distribution at WAMICON in beautiful Clearwater, FL. Editor David Vye expands on the coverage in his column and your sales rep can take care of your advertising and marketing needs. Click here to view the April “Ad Bulletin”.

That’s it for now. I hope to see you in the coming months at one or more of the upcoming shows. In the meantime, I’m preparing for my March Madness bracket picks. Go Zags!

Best,

Carl Sheffres
