Mobile Experts released its annual forecast on Semiconductors for RRH. The 2016 release shows that weak demand for LTE base stations has impacted the RF semiconductor market, but losses are partially offset by wider bandwidth and MIMO requirements, which drive higher prices.

GPS personal tracking device shipments will more than double by 2021 with a 21 percent CAGR as the industry shifts away from traditional markets, such as family and pet locator devices. In a report from ABI Research, smart watches will drive the most interest for wearables integration into the smart home even though fitness trackers were approximately two-thirds of all wearable device shipments in 2014. Furthermore, ABI Research estimates that the total number of LTE connected devices shipped worldwide will exceed 1.89 billion units by end 2019, demonstrating the need for infrastructure and spectrum to support the stellar growth in the industry.
