Pat Hindle, Media Director

Pat Hindle is media director for Microwave Journal^® and has been with the magazine for 12 years. He parlayed his process engineering background into a management role in marketing communications for several leading microwave semiconductor manufacturers including MACOM, Raytheon and Skyworks (Alpha Industries), in addition to working at MIT Nanostructures Laboratory manufacturing X-ray diffraction gratings for space research telescopes like Chandra. He has a B.S. in Materials Science Engineering from Cornell University and MBA from Northeastern University. In his current role as MWJ editorial director, he is responsible for setting MWJ’s editorial direction and developing marketing opportunities for industry clients. He has been the conference manager for EDI CON China and helped launch Signal Integrity™ Journal plus co-hosts the Frequency Matters videos and podcasts.

Ian Furniss, Applications Development Engineer

Ian is an Applications Development Engineer in Keysight’s Space and Satellite Solutions group, currently focused on helping commercial and government entities accelerate their visions in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) mega-constellation new space race. Ian’s areas of expertise span signal analysis and generation, particularly tackling design and test challenges in Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite Second Generation Extended (DVB-S2X), DVB - 2nd Generation Return Channel via Satellite (RCS2), custom Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM), and 5th Generation Non-Terrestrial Networks (5G NTN) at frequencies from Ku- and Ka-band through V- and W-band.

Markus Löerner, Market Segment Manager RF & Microwave Components

Markus Lörner is a Market Segment Manager at Rohde & Schwarz focusing on the RF and Microwave Component market looking at the test requirements today and tomorrow. Markus has 20 years plus experience in the test & measurement industry. Before moving into the market segment role, Markus worked as a product manager for signal generators and power meters at Rohde & Schwarz where he was looking at different application areas including the mobile industry, positioning, satellite and EW applications. He received his Dipl.-Ing. degree from the University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.

Ragin Desai, Sr. Business Development/Product Line Manager - Defense & Space

Ragin Desai is a senior business development and product line manager at Skyworks Solutions, Inc. aerospace and defense business unit. In this role, he oversees business development and marketing efforts for the company’s wide range of optoelectronics and RF/microwave solutions for the space and defense segment, including the “New Space” product portfolio.

His past tenure includes working at Analog Devices, Intersil (now Renesas) and Keysight Technologies where his roles were primarily focused on the defense and space industry. Ragin has 21 years of experience in various semiconductor segments, with over a decade specifically in Defense & Space market, both in the engineering and business domain.

Ragin holds a bachelor of science degree in electronics and communication engineering, a master’s degree in electrical engineering majoring in VLSI Design and Computer Architecture, and an MBA in technology management.
