Outdoor antenna test ranges are used in similar ways to large RF test chambers but may be used to test larger/higher power antennas over longer distances. This includes far-field testing for lower frequencies, as the distance from the antenna to the far-field is a function of wavelength. The distances from the antenna to the test port and the desired dynamic range make these measurements difficult with traditional test and measurement methods. Moreover, for antenna null testing and beam steering testing, the measurement antenna may require repositioning that may impact the uncertainty of the measurements.

This webinar will review traditional long cable insertion loss test solutions and the limitations and drawbacks of these methods. It will also discuss an innovative distributed modular VNA architecture that can simplify the setup and measurement for both measured dynamic range and group delay.

Presenter Bio:

Michael is a senior technologist specializing in vector network analyzers at Anritsu Company. He joined Anritsu in 2015. Prior to Anritsu, he has worked for TDK, IBM Research, and several startup companies. Michael has a wide range of experience including IC design, system design, management of an RF testing group, developing testing software for mass production, and defining and marketing new products. Michael enjoys working with customers and helping them solve technical issues by providing technical solutions to their problems. Michael has a Master degree in EE from Syracuse.
