The market continues to exploit higher frequency bands. Efficient generation of local oscillator frequencies using traditional VCO and PLL techniques is challenging above 30 GHz. During this presentation, Marki Microwave will present and compare multiple LO generation architectures based on non-linear transmission lines and multi-stage passive multipliers that enable high efficiency LO generation to over 100GHz. The presenters will discuss the different circuit elements in the LO chain and present typical measured (and simulated) performance of the entire LO path.

Presenter Bio:

Doug Jorgesen is the Vice President of Engineering at Marki Microwave. He oversees the development, characterization, and applications support for cutting edge microwave components including amplifiers, mixers, and passive products.

Doug joined Marki as a member of the technical staff in 2011. During a tenure of over 10 years, Doug guided product development, technical support, marketing, and outside sales that led to topline revenue growth of over 500%. He hired and trained more than 20 engineers to increase Marki’s technical staff by three times while introducing over 300 products and increasing the rate of product creation from 10 to over 40 annually. His application notes, tech notes, videos, and webinars on mixers, baluns, IQ mixers, and other components have been read and cited by thousands of engineers.

Prior to joining Marki, Doug held internships at Stanford University, Intel, Sun Microsystems, the Center for Research in Lasers and Electro-optics at UCF, and Ziva Corporation. He was a James Scholar at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received a B.S. in electrical engineering, graduating with honors. He holds a PhD in photonics from the University of California, San Diego where he was a Jacobs Scholar and president of the Graduate Student Association.

Justin Boyle is the Product Marketing Manager at Marki Microwave, responsible for Marki’s portfolio of MMIC and hybrid products. Justin has over 20 years of experience in the RF and microwave industry. His formative years were at Motorola as an RF design and test engineer of base station receivers, and later at General Dynamics as a DSP and RF designer of SATCOM ground station and satellite-based receivers and exciters. Justin later transitioned into a technical sales role as a multi-line representative for industry-leading manufacturers of MMICs, filters, ceramics, cables and electromechanical switches before joining Marki Microwave in 2017 as its global sales manager. Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
