CPI Receives $13 M in Follow-On Orders to Support Military Communications Program

February 12, 2009

Communications & Power Industries Inc. (CPI) has received an approximately $13 M follow-on award from General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies to support Increment One of the US Army's Warfighter Information Network Tactical (WIN-T) program. With this latest contract, CPI has received more than $26 M in total awards from General Dynamics to support the WIN-T program. CPI, a subsidiary of CPI International Inc., is a provider of microwave, radio frequency, power and control solutions for critical defense, communications, medical, scientific and other applications.

In 2007, General Dynamics selected CPI to supply Ku-band, high-power satellite communications amplifiers for its specialized SATCOM earth terminals for the WIN-T program. The program could have a total potential value of more than $50 M to CPI over a period of four years.

WIN-T is a tactical communications system that will be the Army's primary battlefield communications network. It is intended for use by warfighters in the field, enabling them to exercise command and control and synchronize warfighting functions from anywhere on the battlefield. Increment One of WIN-T seeks to provide soldiers with a high-capacity, reliable, secure communications network when they are "at the halt."
