Ceragon Boosts Backhaul Capacity for Worldmax in Netherlands

October 16, 2008

Worldmax, a competitive WiMAX operator in the Netherlands, is utilizing Ceragon Networks’ FibeAir® IP solutions in one of Europe’s first commercial WiMAX networks. With this deployment Worldmax joins more than 40 WiMAX operators and service providers worldwide who are using Ceragon’s solutions for high-capacity backhaul applications. The solution powers the operator’s network with up to 400 Mbps of traffic aggregation capacity, enabling smooth transmission of fast internet and a variety of multimedia services.

Worldmax launched its new WiMAX network in June 2008 and currently offers high-end data services throughout the city of Amsterdam. The operator plans to eventually expand its independent wireless network and provide nationwide coverage.

”Ceragon’s wireless Ethernet solutions offer the highest over-the-air capacities and ensure constant delivery of high-bandwidth services even during peak times,” said a Worldmax company official. “With the help of Ceragon, we were able to set up our backhaul network in record time.”

Ira Palti, president and CEO of Ceragon Networks, replied, “We are happy to join forces with Worldmax and promote the expansion of WiMAX technology and services. We anticipate a growing demand for both WiMAX as well as other broadband wireless technologies which will in turn increase the need for our high-capacity solutions.”
