CHASM™ Announces Commercial Availability of AgeNT® Solutions

February 3, 2023

CHASM Advanced Materials Inc., leader in advanced carbon nanotube (CNT) and CNT hybrid materials, announced the commercial launch of AgeNT® solutions for transparent antennas in a wide range of connectivity applications based on different protocols including cellular, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/ZigBee, global navigation satellite system, near-field communications, low-power wide-area network, satellite and combo/hub antennas.

CHASM will showcase its breakthrough solutions for transparent antennas at the MWC Barcelona 2023 exhibition (Hall 1 booth 1C84), the world’s largest connectivity event, Feb. 27-March 2 in Barcelona, Spain.

The new AgeNT® solutions for transparent antennas are based on CHASM’s nanocarbon/copper hybrid technology, the industry’s most versatile, transparent, high performance and low-cost offering for antennas in automotive, IoT, M2M, public safety, point-of-purchase and other market segments.

CHASM offers its AgeNT® flexible conductive film with performance equivalent to the leading low-loss, ceramic-based PCB laminates and its robust circuit fabrication technology. The company accelerates clients' design-for-manufacturability process by providing material characteristic data for performance simulation and reference designs of wideband Wi-Fi Coplanar antenna for 2.4 and 5.8 GHz; narrow band patch antenna for band n78, and Microstrip antenna.

“We are excited to showcase our breakthrough technology for transparent antennas at MWC 2023 in Barcelona,” said David Arthur, CEO and co-founder of CHASM Advanced Materials. “During the past few years, we have clearly shown that transparent antennas can perform just as well as non-transparent PCB antennas for a wide variety of applications.”

Arthur said the company’s engineering team is ready to work with antenna companies to convert their non-transparent PCB antenna designs into transparent antenna prototypes so they can validate performance and see for themselves the value of transparency. “We also make it easy for our customers to quickly move their designs to commercial production, leveraging our own PCB fabrication capabilities plus our network of PCB fabrication partners,” said Arthur.

With greater than 90 percent optical transparency and equivalent efficacy compared to low-loss, ceramic PCB-based antenna options, this solution enables RF engineers to overcome design challenges with antennas “hiding in plain sight” of automobiles, buildings, windows, shopfronts, bus stops, street lights, outdoor and indoor displays, interior ceilings and light fixtures. Antennas can be situated closer to points of use to increase signal strength and data speeds.

Transparent antennas based on the AgeNT® solutions are flexible, thermoformable and through the use of screen printing can provide quick turnaround on design changes and prototypes. The company’s’ patented production process reduces design and manufacturing costs while overcoming scalability and cost barriers that traditionally face the CNT industry.
