Broadcom Announces Industry’s Most Comprehensive Portfolio of Wi-Fi 6E Access Point Solutions for 6 GHz WLAN

January 9, 2020

Broadcom is sampling its initial Wi-Fi 6E devices to qualified customers, from a portfolio comprising four devices for enterprise access points and four devices for residential access points.

Wi-Fi 6E is a new standard that extends the frequency range of Wi-Fi 6 to the proposed 6 GHz band, expected to be accessible in the U.S. this year. This new band adds up to 1200 MHz of spectrum, enabling greater data rates, higher capacity and lower latency, with no congestion from legacy devices. The additional bandwidth will enable applications such as 8K video streaming, real-time immersive gaming, virtual and augmented reality, and high speed tethering.

Now being adopted, Wi-Fi 6 (aka 802.11ax) improves multi-user performance in crowded environments, provides better roaming capabilities and increases security. The Wi-Fi 6 ecosystem is already integrated in more than 125 million smartphones.
