BAE Systems Expands Operations and Workforce

February 4, 2019

BAE Systems is expanding operations into Manchester, New Hampshire, the latest strategic investment in the company's facilities and workforce to prepare for continuing and projected business growth. The company is leasing an approximately 200,000 square foot campus at 3000 Goffs Falls Road, adjacent to the Boston-Manchester regional airport. When fully staffed, the site will house up to 800 employees working on the company’s electronic warfare (EW) programs.

Over the past several years, BAE Systems' Electronic Systems sector has invested more than $100 million to expand manufacturing capacity to meet increasing production rates of the company’s top programs and deliver on its commitments to its customers, with a strong focus on its EW business. That investment, along with the new Manchester expansion, will enable the company to enhance manufacturing efficiency, improve overall cycle time and build additional capabilities for future growth.

BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems sector, headquartered in Nashua, hired nearly 2,000 people in 2018. Its EW business provides a significant economic impact on the communities where it operates, providing more than $450 million in salaries and benefits to more than 3,100 employees in 16 states and $161 million in subcontracts to more than 740 suppliers in 46 states in 2018.

The new Manchester location adds to BAE System’s already large New Hampshire presence, which includes facilities in Hudson and Nashua, with more than 6,000 people at multiple sites across the state.

“BAE Systems has a long and rich history in New Hampshire. Our investment in the new Manchester campus will enable us to tap into the talented local workforce to expand our capacity and improve our ability to deliver high-quality products to the warfighter.” — Ray Brousseau, vice president and deputy general manager at BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems sector

Outside of New England, the company’s Electronic Systems sector continues to expand its operations in Austin, Texas and Huntsville, Alabama. In Austin, the company has hired more than 150 people in the last year; in Huntsville, BAE Systems is developing a $45.5 million facility and will add hundreds of jobs over the coming years. BAE Systems is also expanding and investing in its Combat Vehicles manufacturing network in Aiken, South Carolina; Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma and York, Pennsylvania.

BAE Systems is a global defense, aerospace and security company with more than 83,000 employees worldwide and operations in 30 U.S. states. The company is actively seeking skilled local candidates to fill critical engineering, manufacturing, program management and business development roles to support this growth.
