Anokiwave Gen 2 K/Ka-Band Silicon Beamformer ICs
2nd Generation K/Ka-Band SATCOM Beamformer ICs
Anokiwave has released the second-generation of K/Ka-Band SATCOM beamformer ICs for the design and production of phased array ground terminals. The new K/Ka-Band ICs enable active antenna phased array terminals that can auto-align and auto-position to support SATCOM-on-the-move with LEO, MEO and GEO satellites.
The highly integrated AWMF-0132 K-Band receive (Rx) IC and the AWMF-0133 Ka-Band transmit (Tx) IC both support four dual polarization radiating elements with full polarization flexibility.
The AWMF-0132 receive IC covers 17.7 to 20.2 GHz and provides 6-bit phase control and 5-bit gain control. The device has 29 dB gain, a 2.0 dB noise figure, gain compensation over temperature and temperature reporting.
The AMWF-0133 transmit IC covers 27.5 to 30 GHz with an output power of +8 dBm per element per polarization, 20 dB of gain per channel, 6-bit phase control, 5-bit gain control, gain compensation over temperature and temperature reporting.
The ICs have ESD protection on all pins and are assembled in a 4.4 mm x 3.6 mm WLCSP (wafer level chip scale package), which eases thermal management and array assembly.
The AWMF-0132 and AWMF-0133 are available to the general market in evaluation and pilot production quantities. To support evaluation of IC capabilities and speed adoption of the technology, Anokiwave offers evaluation kits, including boards with the IC and a USB-SPI interface module with drivers and all cables.
The new ICs extend Anokiwave’s first-generation beamformer ICs, improving performance, reducing cost and providing digital functionality that simplifies the design of the active antenna array.
“High performance with system level design considerations and low cost are fundamental to making mass scale commercial deployment of SATCOM active antennas and phased arrays a reality. Our new K/Ka-Band beamformers set a new and unmatched industry standard of performance and cost combination. We already have multiple SATCOM customers successfully building and deploying arrays using the new ICs. We are pleased to receive an extremely positive feedback about these parts and see our customers achieve first pass success with their arrays with these new ICs.” — Abhishek Kapoor, VP of sales
