Anokiwave's 24/26 GHz IC Supports 3GPP Compliant mmWave 5G Equipment

May 30, 2018

Anokiwave announced the next product in a new family of 5G-Gen 2 silicon quad core ICs that enable 3GPP compliant base stations, with the worldwide release of the 24/26 GHz AWMF-0139. The 5G-Gen 2 family now supports all major 5G millimeter wave bands — 24/26, 28 and 37/39 GHz — and is part of Anokiwave’s strategy to enable the commercialization of 5G millimeter wave systems with silicon ICs.

The AWMF-0139 operates from 24.25 to 27.5 GHz, supports four radiating elements and includes gain and phase controls for analog RF beam steering. The highly integrated silicon IC is packaged in a wafer level chip scale package, easily fitting within the typical 5.77 mm lattice spacing at 26 GHz.

Anokiwave’s patent-pending IP blocks in silicon enable low-cost hybrid beamforming with high energy efficiency and 5G fast beam steeringtm.

Availability

Pilot production quantities of the AWMF-0139 are available now.

Anokiwave also offers evaluation kits for ease of technology evaluation and adoption. The kits include boards with the IC, a USB-SPI interface module with drivers and all required cables.

“5G operating frequencies around the world are converging on three millimeter wave bands —24/26, 28 and 37/39 GHz. As the push to roll out 5G networks is proceeding at full speed, Anokiwave is executing on an aggressive strategy to deliver 5G solutions with industry first ICs at these important bands. Today’s announcement of the complete family of ICs that both enable 3GPP compliance and cover the important 5G bands is an essential step that allows network operators to roll out 5G coverage in earnest.” — David Corman, Anokiwave chief systems architect
