The Modelithics mmWave & 5G Library

March 20, 2018

The recently introduced Modelithics mmWave & 5G Library is a collection of advanced simulation models for high frequency electronic design, developed to support the needs of the next generation of cellular and wireless communications. All models in this new library can be used in one or more of the latest 5G millimeter wave frequency bands.

Every model in the mmWave & 5G library is validated with measurements to a minimum of 30 GHz, some as high as 125 GHz. The initial release, formatted for use with Keysight ADS, contains over 87 models representing over 1700 individual components from over 25 different suppliers, including Qorvo, Würth Elektronik, Mini-Circuits, Coilcraft, AVX, KEMET and Murata.

Initially formatted for Keysight ADS, the mmWave & 5G library will be released for use in other simulators with each major release of the Modelithics COMPLETE Library in 2018, including NI AWR Design Environment (Microwave Office), Keysight Genesys, ANSYS HFSS and Sonnet Suites.

Modelithics mmWave & 5G Library Highlights

  • Contains over 87 models from over 25 different suppliers, representing over 1700 individual parts;
  • Includes models that are validated to a minimum of at least 30 GHz;
  • Offers the same Modelithics advanced features such as substrate, pad and part value scalability;
  • Introductory release is formatted for Keysight ADS, with versions for NI AWRDE, Keysight Genesys, ANSYS HFSS and Sonnet Suites to follow (the model count may vary by simulator)

Modelithics, Inc. is well known for providing precision RF and microwave device characterization services and for developing and providing highly accurate simulation models for all types of passive and active electronic components. Modelithics models offer many advanced parameters that enable powerful design analysis such as statistical, electromagnetic co-simulation and design tuning and optimization by scaling part value, pad dimensions and substrate properties. Active device models can include bias scaling, temperature scaling and nonlinear performance prediction, along with related validations.

Modelithics is continually adding new model capabilities based on customer feedback and technology trends.

Modelithics works closely with many popular component suppliers under the Modelithics Vendor Partner (MVP) Program to develop and promote the availability of advanced models for their components. Some of these MVP companies are committed to supporting RF and microwave design engineers by sponsoring a free trial of the Modelithics models available for their components. To view available libraries and to request vendor library trials, visit the Vendor Sponsored Libraries page on the Modelithics website: www.modelithics.com/MVP/VSL.
