Anokiwave’s Presence at Mobile World Congress 2018

February 28, 2018

Anokiwave had a strong presence at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona: Anokiwave's 5G ICs powered more than 10 customer 5G arrays at all three millimeter wave 5G bands, and more than 10 Anokiwave active antenna kits, driven by Anokiwave 5G ICs were featured at several of their partner booths. Anokiwave senior staff attended MWC for private meetings with customers.

As part of the company's strategy to enable 5G millimeter wave systems by industrializing planar active antennas with silicon core ICs, Anokiwave has introduced innovative silicon ICs at each of the major millimeter wave bands: 26, 28 and 39 GHz. The AWMF-0108 IC, first introduced in 2016, operates from 26.5 to 29.5 GHz; the AWMF-0123/5 ICs, introduced in 2017, operate from 37.1 to 40.0 GHz; and the the AWMF-0135, introduced in 2017, operates from 24.25 to 27.5 GHz. Each of the quad core ICs feature embedded functions for remote telemetry and low-latency steering.

To demonstrate the performance achievable using low power silicon integration and efficient antenna layout and design, Anokiwave and its partner Ball Aerospace introduced a family of Active Antenna Innovator Kits at 26 and 28 GHz. The 64- and 256-element active antennas show how 5G coverage can be rolled out by network operators using the millimeter wave bands, achieving low power footprint and high energy efficiency and meeting key operating specifications for data rate, latency, coverage and reliability.

Robert Donahue, Anokiwave's CEO, said, “5G is one of the most anticipated advances in the telecommunications industry. As 5G wireless network deployments are expected worldwide as early as 2018, Anokiwave stands ready to equip service providers and OEMs with innovative ICs in large volumes for all major 5G millimeter wave bands.”
