Anokiwave Introduces 26 GHz 5G mmWave Reconfigurable 256-Element Active Antenna Array

February 1, 2018

Anokiwave Inc. announced the latest product in its family of mmWave Phased Array Antenna Innovator’s Kits, the AWA-0142, driven by the Anokiwave AWMF- 0135 26GHz 5G Quad Core IC with embedded functions for remote telemetry and low-latency steeringTM.

The AWA-0142 is a 256-element, reconfigurable active electronically scanned antenna covers the 24.25 to 27.5 GHz band, delivers +60 dBmi (1 KW) of EIRP with an effective Rx NF of 5 dB. The Anokiwave Active Antennas are the first commercially available family of phased-arrays that enable the development and measurement of radio links and channel models, as well as for rapid prototyping and testing of electronically beam-steered radio links through low-latency beam update rates.

“We see 26 GHz as another important 5G band, especially in Europe and China,” states Ian Gresham, Anokiwave Technology Fellow. “With the introduction of this latest array to the current portfolio of Active Antenna Innovator kits, Anokiwave is paving the way for network operators to roll out 5G coverage using the mmWave bands. The array is based on our first generation 26 GHz 5G Quad Core IC, and allows for real-time active beam-steering applications in a single 256-element or in a 4 x 64 element configuration that enables 4 x 4 MIMO testing.”

Developed with Ball Aerospace for mmWave 5G wireless markets, The AWA-0142 includes an integrated controller that can steer the beams to predetermined positions within a wide scan volume with minimal latency and system sensitivity.
