ETS-Lindgren supports current and emerging LTE-A technologies using Anritsu RF Tester

August 26, 2016

Anritsu Co. and ETS-Lindgren announce additional support of 2G to 4G/LTE/MIMO/CA Over-the-Air (OTA) testing with an enhanced solution that integrates the Anritsu MT8821C RF tester with the CTIA-compliant ETS-Lindgren EMQuest™ EMQ-100 Antenna Measurement Software. The accurate and flexible turnkey solution now supports 2 Carrier Aggregation (2CA), 3 Carrier Aggregation (3CA), and 2x2 MIMO providing user equipment (UE) developers and manufacturers with a single solution to characterize and validate their designs in accordance with current and future CTIA OTA performance test plans.

The Anritsu MT8821C hardware and ETS-Lindgren EMQ-100 software are nowavailable and in use by ETS-Lindgren. The MT8821C is the first single-instrument solution for testing LTE-A 4CA with 2x2 MIMO and supports testing of advanced Cat. 11 and Cat. 13 devices. The MT8821C can conduct fast and accurate RF receiver measurements for 3CA UEs and can perform data throughput tests up to 600 Mbps. In addition, the MT8821C RF Tester is an approved test solution for 2G to 4G/LTE/MIMO/CA OTA testing up to 2CA by ETS-Lindgren.

“Anritsu and ETS-Lindgren continue to work together to develop test solutions that help move technology forward so UE developers and manufacturers can roll out a new generation of mobile devices efficiently and confidently,” said Paul Innis, Vice President and General Manager of Anritsu Company. “We are committed to developing test solutions that meet current and future industry and carrier eco-system OTA test requirements.”

“Our customers rely on our expertise to provide them with turnkey, world-class wireless test solutions that include the test chamber, and all associated software and hardware. With our in-house test capabilities, we can document the quality of the Anritsu MT8821C and its functionality with our wireless test systems,” said Roger Hatch, Senior Director Solutions with ETS-Lindgren.

The MT8821C and EMQuest EMQ-100 provide a comprehensive solution that can test devices based on various wireless technologies. Specialized calibration and validation methods are supported for MIMO OTA testing and other analysis, including TRP/TIS.

The MT8821C RF Tester is a multi-format 2G, 3G, and 4G/LTE/MIMO/CA instrument with the capability for wireless device calibration, RF parametric testing and functional testing, including call processing or no-call based testing. The MT8821C currently supports LTE (FDD and TDD) up to 5CA with SISO, 4CA with 2x2 MIMO, 2CA with 4x4 MIMO, and Uplink 2CA in a single box, as well as W-CDMA/HSPA to DB/DC-HSDPA, 4C-HSDPA, CDMA2K, 1xEV-DO rel. A, GSM/EGPRS and TD-SCDMA/HSPA.

“Currently the CTIA only requires testing up to 2CC Carrier Aggregation, but that will change in the futureand with the MT8821C,our customers will be ready when that time arrives. Upgrades from the MT8820C to the MT8821C are also available,” added ETS-Lindgren’s Jari Vikstedt, Manager, Wireless Solutions.

ETS-Lindgren’s EMQuest EMQ-100 offers a wide range of fully parameterized test methods for measuring basic antenna performance metrics, as well as testing both radiated and conducted performance of various wireless devices. Flexible in its design, the EMQuest EMQ-100 can be used to analyze antennas in stand-alone applications, or to test an embedded antenna system and radio module against any of the industry standard OTA radiated performance test requirements.
