Marki Microwave introduces MMIC mixers and amplifiers

May 15, 2015

Marki Microwave is proud to announce the release of MMIC mixers and amplifiers at the International Microwave Symposium in Phoenix. After several years of intensive development, the new GaAs Schottky MMIC mixers serve as an outstanding low cost and high performance complement to Marki's existing band of double balanced Microlithic® mixers. Between these two products lines, Marki has every RF and LO frequency from 1.5 to 67 GHz covered with some type of chip scale form factor design.

Initial releases include the MM1-0726HSMand MM1-2567LS. The MM1-0726HSM is a double balanced mixer with 7-26 GHz LO/RF ports, and an IF that extends from DC-9 GHz. It offers low conversion loss and excellent isolations and spurious suppression. It comes in a convenient 3mm QFN surface mount package, compatible with standard surface mount reflow soldering assembly techniques. The MM1-2567LSis the highest frequency catalog mixer available from Marki Microwave. Currently available only as a connectorized module, it features a packaged GaAs MMIC double balanced mixer that has 25-67 GHz RF/LO ports and an IF that extends from DC to 30 GHz.

Additionally, Marki announces the pre-release of MMIC distributed LO amplifiers, suitable for use with the T3 and all other lines of Marki mixers. After years as a consumer of distributed LO amplifiers, Marki has built a design capability for GaAs pHEMT distributed amplifiers specifically for use as LO amplifiers. A pre-release run of broadband amplifiers includes five distributed amplifier models:

Each amplifier is designed for the minimum current draw for a given bandwidth and output power. All can be operated as a single positive bias only, or with a low negative bias for reduced current draw. These models are expected to be available in connectorized modules and integrated with T3 mixers in both connectorized and surface mount packages in Summer 2015.

The initial production release of these MMIC amplifiers is the ADM-0126MSM, a broadband LO driver amplifier suitable for driving L, M, and I diode mixers with +17 dBm of power from 1 to 26.5 GHz. Additionally, in saturated mode the amplifier can be used as a square wave LO amplifier for driving the T3 mixer series.

Applications for the ADM-0126MSM include LO buffer amplification, clock distribution, and general purpose signal amplification for electronic warfare and test and measurement applications. It is recommended for all new designs, and a connectorized module test board is available.
