AMPLIFIERS

10 Gbps Monolithic Limiting Amplifier
The 10 Gbps model ALA90000 three-stage, DC-coupled, differential amplifier IC replaces a multistage discrete amplifier solution typically required after transimpedance or PIN amplifiers in OC-192/STM-64 receiver applications. The amplifier has a small-signal gain of 25 dB, input sensitivity of 7 mV (differential) and an output drive (Vout, p-p) of 700 mV into 50 W. The amplifier is manufactured using the company's pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor process. Price: $300 (1000).

Tower-top Amplifiers
The model DCI-TTA tower-top amplifier utilizes 0.6 dB LNAs while maintaining better-than-average intermod immunity. Each unit consists of a filter (with approximately 1 dB loss) and LNA, a transfer switch and lighting protection on both the input and output coax. The unit is powered by 12 V through the coax. When power is dropped, the transfer switch removes the LNA from the circuit, leaving only the filter in line, which allows the antenna to be used in the event of LNA failure. The LNAs feature a third-order intercept point (IP3) of approximately 27 dBm and are equipped with a selective filter head that eliminates all signals except the desired in-band signals.

Antenna-mounted Amplifiers
The Stellar series outdoor antenna-mounted amplifiers utilize the company's state-of-the-art power booster traveling-wave tubes (TWT) to produce a small (16" x 8" x 7"), lightweight (26 lb) amplifier with 150 W (typ) output power at the flange. The amplifiers incorporate solid-state driver pre-amplifiers that, when combined with the power booster TWTs, produce an amplifier with good linearity, ensuring more usable power per cubic inch for digital transmissions.

Ka-band Solid-state Power Amplifier
The model PA2930-3030 1 W solid-state power amplifier operates at Ka-band frequencies and is designed for broadband satellite uplink applications. The unit's MMIC-based design provides good linearity and approximately 1 GHz of bandwidth at 30 GHz. The amplifier can be used as a stand-alone component of a transmitter or transceiver, or as a driver for a TWT or klystron-base high power amplifier.

Ka-band Predistortion Linearizers
The BAFL D series linearizers now includes K-band predistortion versions for use in direct broadcast satellite uplink applications. The model BAFL-18000D operates over the full satellite band from 17.3 to 18.4 GHz. These predistortion linearizers are designed for use with TWT or klystron amplifiers, providing more than 10 dB carrier-to-intermodulation.

Drop-in Amplifier
The model MSH-7403401-DI three-stage drop-in amplifier operates over the 14 to 14.5 GHz frequency range and provides a medium output power of 20 dBm (typ). The unit features gain of 27 dB (min), noise figure of 4.5 dB (typ) and SWR of 1.5 on both input and output. The unit's standard internal voltage regulator requires +12 V DC with a current of 175 mA. Price: $695 each (10). Delivery: stock to two weeks (ARO).

PCS/WLL Amplifiers
The GRF20XX series power amplifiers are designed to deliver 2 W (avg) power for both standard and wideband code-division multiple access (CDMA) while consuming less than 40 W. These class A amplifiers feature 41 dB (min) gain and are suitable for use in repeaters. The models GRF2027 and GRF2012 operate from 1.8 to 2 GHz and 2.3 to 2.4 GHz, respectively. Both units are equipped with heatsink and integral fan. Size: 4.5" x 4.5" x 1.5".

C-band LNAs
The 3300 series C-band LNAs offer low noise temperatures to 30K, covering both standard (3.4 to 4.2 GHz) and extended (4.5 to 4.8 GHz) frequency bands for very small aperture terminal (VSAT) applications. The units' reduced size (2.5" x 2.5" x 5.0") offers increased flexibility for mounting to the antenna. The amplifiers are waterproof and lightning protected. Delivery: stock to three weeks (most models).
