Vishay capacitor offers environment-friendly materials

April 16, 2014

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. introduced a new environmentally friendly metallized polypropylene film capacitor for DC-link applications that offers a broad capacitance range of 1 µF to 500 µF, compact footprints, and voltage ratings from 500 V to 1200 V.

With its high capacitance per volume and a very long life of > 100,000 hours at +70°C under nominal DC voltage, the economical MKP1848C is optimized for industrial power applications, including renewable energy inverters, motor drives, and power supplies.

The DC-link capacitor features low ESR down to 1.5 mΩ, low self-inductance of < 1 nH per mm of lead spacing, high peak current capabilities up to 1560 A, high RMS current up to 55 A, and a capacitance density up to 1 µF / cm³. The MKP1848C capacitor can be tailored to meet customer-specific needs. Offered in a flame-retardant plastic case with a resin seal, the device has a maximum operating temperature of +105 °C and is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green. (The Vishay Green designation means that a component has less than 900 ppm of antinomy, has less than 100 ppm of red phosphorous, is halogen-free, and is RoHS-compliant without exemptions.)

Samples and production quantities of the MKP1848C are available now. Pricing for U.S. delivery starts at $1.00 per piece.
