Harris receives $49M in orders from nation in Asia for Falcon III wideband tactical radios

April 7, 2014

Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, has received $49 million in orders to provide a nation in Asia with enhanced tactical communications and field support.

This customer is acquiring Falcon III® RF-7800H high-frequency wideband manpack and RF-7850M multiband handheld radios. These radios will supply the nation's security forces with a secure wireless tactical communications network, providing improved line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight voice and data communications.

"Harris continues to lead the global deployment of wideband tactical communications to armed forces around the world," said Brendan O'Connell, president, International business, Harris RF Communications. "This most recent order will support deployment of an integrated tactical area communications system for improved command, control and situational awareness."

The Falcon III RF-7800H is transforming HF tactical communications. The radio is the first to enable users to send images and other battle management data over high-frequency beyond-line-of-sight environments faster than they could through satellite communications. The RF-7800H is 20 percent smaller and up to 10 times faster than legacy HF radios.

The RF-7850M multiband handheld provides forward-deployed teams with capabilities to communicate in greater speed and detail, crucial to achieving mission success on the battlefield.
