Viva CTIA

May 8, 2013

After traveling to Orlando in 2011 and New Orleans in 2012, CTIA Wireless returns to Las Vegas in its current form before the organizers make major changes to the focus, composition and timing of this annual event. This past January -The Wireless Association® announced its plans to create a "super" mobile industry trade show that will dominate the second half of the year, beginning in 2014.

For next year, CTIA 2014™ will combine its CTIA Show with its focus on technology and consumer electronics and MobileCON™ which emphasizes mobile IT solutions. The resulting event will offer attendees, exhibitors and speakers with specialized opportunities to network and conduct business with all of the companies that comprise the wireless ecosystem. The first CTIA super mobile show, CTIA 2014, will take place next year between Sept. 9, 10 & 11 at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The organizers are currently developing a variety of strategic partnerships that will expand the show offerings within the vertical segments of the wireless industry. These partnerships including carriers, device manufacturers, network operators, app developers, retailers and others will play a vital role in forming a weeklong schedule of business and professional development opportunities of next year’s event.

Meanwhile, this year’s roster of keynote speakers include Mary Dillon, 2013 Chairperson of CTIA’s Board of Directors and U.S. Cellular President and CEO; Ashton Kutcher, actor and technology venture capitalist; José María Álvarez-Pallete López, Chief Operating Officer, Telefónica S.A.; Michael Chasen, CEO of Social Radar and Co-founder and former CEO of Blackboard Inc.; Dr. Thomas Kiessling, Chief Product and Innovation Officer, Deutsche Telekom AG; Gibu Thomas, Global Head of Mobile for Walmart; and MicroStrategy CEO and bestselling author of The Mobile Wave Michael Saylor.

More than 40,000 mobile industry professionals are expected to attend CTIA 2013 which includes 300,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space featuring more than 1,000 companies showcasing wirelessapplications, solutions, hardware and software. The exhibition includes two Retail and Technology zones, 19 International Partners, the 15th Annual Tower Technology Summit and a total of 15 Technology Pavilions. Among these Tech Pavilions, Microwave Journal and its parent company Horizon House organized the RF Zone, M2M Zone and Mobile Backhaul Zone.

Once again, the RF/microwave zone will represent the RF and microwave component community. This dedicated pavilion features industry leading companies that provide components, integrated circuits, test, measurement and simulation tools as the essential ingredients for today's wireless applications and tomorrow's emerging technologies. Now you can find solutions to your high frequency design challenges in one convenient location. In an exhibition as large as CTIA, grouping RF component manufacturers together in one location helps these exhibitors from getting lost in the noise.

Approximately twenty companies will join Microwave Journal in the RF/microwave Zone attracting CTIA attendees interested in specific hardware, communication ICs and test solutions for the many evolving sectors of the wireless industry. With the organizers promoting new verticals such as wireless medical, M2M, Wireless automotives and more, CTIA is an ideal opportunity for component manufacturers to get exposure to broader emerging markets and vice versa. Winners of the 8th annual E-Tech Awards, which are sponsored by CTIA – The Wireless Association, will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 22.
