Richardson RFPD Announces IMS 2013 Schedule

At its booth #620, Richardson RFPD will host a full slate of 15-minute presentations and Q&A sessions featuring the leading innovators and suppliers of RF, Wireless and Energy technologies. The diverse lineup of presentations covers everything from the latest GaN developments, to military and aerospace applications, and a host of new products from the industry's leading suppliers.

In addition to the scheduled presentations, Richardson RFPD will host a series of Design Advisor Mini-Meetings at its booth. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the experts and talk with them without the need for an appointment. The lineup of Design Advisor Meetings includes:

As the RF Business Development Manager for Analog Devices, Larry Hawkins matches RF technology to the needs of the industry.  He looks at future RF needs and develops ways ADI can solve problems in Wireless infrastructure, Instrumentation, Military, Aerospace, Building Control and Automation, and Security and Surveillance.  

Prior to Joining Analog Devices, Larry held a variety of engineering, engineering management, marketing, and applications positions at Aeroflex and L-3 Communications. In these positions, he participated in the emergence and growth of the commercial wireless industry. Larry most recently spent 7 years as an applications manager in the RF Group at Analog Devices.  After almost two decades in the RF industry, he brings a deep understanding of the technical and market trends in the RFIC sector. Larry holds a BSEE degree from the University of Utah with an emphasis on RF and Microwave.

John is responsible for market expansion into new customer application areas for the RF Power business at Freescale Semiconductor. The RF Power family of products is focused on devices and solutions outside of the wireless infrastructure market in areas such as Broadcast, Industrial, Scientific, Medical and Aerospace.  John’s background in RF power semiconductors spans from device design and product marketing at both Motorola and Freescale to his current position as a market development specialist. He has been with Motorola and Freescale since 1984, initially in Europe, but is now in Tempe, Arizona since 1994.

Paul Beasly has been responsible for M/A-COM’s Radar Product Line since October 2012. From June 2010 to October 2012 Paul served as Field Applications Manager for North America.  Paul has over 10 years of industry experience in RF, Microwave and mmWave design, marketing and business development.  Prior to joining M/A-COM, he held numerous design, product management and business development roles at Mimix Broadband including mmWave MMIC Designer, Product Manager for PTP backhaul and Business Development Manager for Aerospace and Defense. Paul holds a B.S., Engineering Physics Degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and an M.B.A from the University of Texas, Austin.

As Director of Engineering for the Microsemi RFIS Transistor Solution, Jerry manages the Engineering Department and leads the Product Development team designing state-of-the-art high power transistor products utilizing Si BJT, SiC SIT, and GaN HEMT technologies for Radar, Avionics, and Communication markets.

Prior to joining Microsemi, Jerry worked in engineering, business development and product line manager for Signal Technology, Watkins-Johnson, and CTT, Inc. In these positions, Jerry has been intimately involved in a wide verity of GaAs based RF/Microwave components, amplifier and subsystem designs, technology development, business strategy, and volume manufacturing operation.  Jerry holds an MBA degree from Santa Clara University, an MSEE degree from UC San Diego, California, and a BSEE degree from Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan.

Mobile Experts is a network of market and technology experts that provide market analysis on the mobile infrastructure and mobile handset markets. Mr. Madden provides market forecasts for handset, DAS, small cell, and base station markets, with in-depth research down to the nitty gritty details of frequency bands and power levels.  Mr. Madden graduated, cum laude, from UCLA in 1989 and is a Silicon Valley veteran.   He has survived IPOs, LBOs, divestitures, acquisitions, and mergers during his 24 years in mobile communications.

As Applications Engineer at Nitronex, Mr. Baker has more than 25 years of RF design in receivers, transmitters, synthesizers, signal processing, and systems, primarily in defense and satellite communication products. Ten years have been as an Applications Engineer helping customers design with Silicon, GaAs, and GaN based RF products. He is also the author of several papers and application notes, and a long time radio amateur, K9RY. He holds a BSEE from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, a MSCSD from the University of Houston at Clear Lake as well as completed additional RF & Microwave coursework at the University of South Florida.

Rodd Novak is responsible for design and execution of Peregrine’s global product marketing strategy and directs the company’s strategic business development activities.  Since joining Peregrine in 2002 as director of marketing, Rodd has been integral in the company’s focus toward penetrating the RF wireless and broadband markets with its leading-edge product portfolio. Most recently he was vice president, sales and marketing, responsible for revenue generation within the company’s three product lines. Prior to joining Peregrine Semiconductor, Rodd served as corporate marketing manager for CTS Corporation where he was responsible for several business units and the advancement of multiple product technologies in the communications sector, as well as strategic alliances and acquisitions.  Rodd began his career as an electrical engineer with Westinghouse Corporation, and later moved into a marketing role with the commercial business unit of its subsidiary, Xetron Corporation. Rodd holds a BSEE from the University of Cinncinnati, and MBA from Xavier University.

As an Applications Engineering Manager for Skyworks Solutions, Alan Ake supports a wide variety of discrete RF devices such as gain blocks, linear drivers, mixers and power amplifiers with a special emphasis on low noise devices.  He and his team specialize in providing custom tuned discrete solutions to Skyworks’ customers in industries including cellular infrastructure, military, automotive and consumer electronics.

Prior to Joining Skyworks, Alan held a variety of transceiver design and applications engineering positions at RF Micro Devices, Navini Networks and Motorola Paging. With 18 years experience in the RF industry, he brings a deep understanding of RF transceiver design at both the component and the system level and he uses this knowledge to provide the best possible RF solutions to his customers. Alan holds a BSEE degree from the University of South Florida with an emphasis on RF and Microwave Design.

Grant Wilcox is Product Marketing Manager for the TriQuint Semiconductor Defense Products and Foundry Services division based in Richardson, TX. Grant focuses on MMIC product marketing for high frequency / high power gallium nitride (GaN) and gallium arsenide (GaAs) solutions. Grant joined TriQuint in 2000. He holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Telecommunications from the Southern Methodist University School of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree from Mississippi State University.

Jean Pierre Viaud is the manager of the UMS product business unit. He started his carrier within the THALES group as a microwave engineer and he has been involved in several types of RF design starting from MMIC up to the development of microwave modules for both Radar and Communication systems. After 10 years in THALES, Jean Pierre joined UMS in 2004 as an R/D program manager. In 2008, he took over the management of the product business unit of UMS gathering design and product engineering activities. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Limoges, France.

Prior to joining Gore, Robert was the Engineering/Sales Manager for a company that developed sophisticated connectors for applications ranging from consumer electronics to aerospace. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University.
