Agilent Technologies introduces world’s fastest USB power sensors

June 19, 2012

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the Agilent U2020 X-series, the world’s fastest USB power sensors. With the peak and average power measurement capabilities of a power meter, these compact high-performance sensors allow engineers to test devices faster and with greater efficiency and accuracy.

The product’s measurement speed (3500 readings per second or higher), along with its internal zero and calibration function, enables users to maximize test efficiency and reduce the cost of test in areas such as high-volume component manufacturing, where every second and each measurement counts.

Agilent’s U2020 X-series sensors also come with built-in trigger functions. The trigger-in function allows accurate triggering of small signals close to the signal noise floor. (This is especially important when analyzing complex signals with very low power outputs.) The trigger-out port allows users to perform data logging while the video-output feature gives users the flexibility to use the USB sensors with an oscilloscope as an alternative method to display pulse signals and measure pulse parameters.

With a compact USB form factor, U2020 X-series sensors help technicians and engineers test faster and with greater ease. These sensors operate without needing a power meter or external power supply, making them space efficient in manufacturing lines. The sensors also provide a portable, lightweight solution for field applications such as base-station maintenance. And the N1918A Option 100 Power Analyzer PC license key—bundled with each sensor—gives R&D engineers powerful software that performs complex pulse analysis similar to a power meter.

“The Agilent U2020 X-series marks a significant breakthrough with the fastest measurement speed in a USB power sensor,” said Ee Huei Sin, vice president, Agilent’s Basic Instruments Division. “These compact and high-performance USB sensors help users meet the growing test challenges they face each day while offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional bench solutions.”

U.S. Pricing and Additional Information

The U2020 X-series USB peak and average power sensors are now available worldwide. The U2021XA (50 MHz to 18 GHz) and U2022XA (50 MHz to 40 GHz) are priced at $6,700 and $7,100, respectively.
