Hittite Announces Fast Rise/Fall Time Logic. Four New Logic Devices Support Data Rates to 13 Gbps with Rise/Fall Times as Fast as 15 ns.

Chelmsford, MA, 3/16/09 – Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has extended the high speed logic product line by releasing four new logic devices which are optimized for systems requiring fast rise/fall times, low jitter, and low DC power consumption. These four logic products provide operating clock and data rates of 13 GHz/13 Gbps, and are ideal for deployment in optical systems, ATE, broadband test and measurement equipment, frequency synthesis, and radar signal processing systems.

The HMC720LC3C is a 1:2 Fanout Buffer designed to support data transmission rates up to 13 Gbps, and clock rates up to 13 GHz. All differential inputs and outputs are DC coupled and terminated on chip with 50 Ohm resistors to ground. The outputs may be used in either singe-ended or differential modes, and propagation delay is typically 120 ps. With typical rise/fall times of 19/18 ps, and 2 ps of jitter, the HMC720LC3C dissipates only 300 mW.

The HMC721LC3C is a XOR/XNOR gate function which supports data transmission rates up to 13 Gbps, and clock frequencies up to 13 GHz. The differential inputs to the HMC721LC3C are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground on chip, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled and the device exhibits a propagation delay of 95 ps. The HMC721LC3C provides typical rise/fall times of 19/18 ps, and 2 ps of jitter while dissipating only 230 mW.

The HMC722LC3C supports data transmission rates up to 13 Gbps, clock frequencies up to 13 GHz and may be configured to provide AND, NAND, OR or NOR logic functions. The differential inputs to the HMC722LC3C are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground on chip, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled and the device exhibits a propagation delay of 95 ps. The HMC722LC3C provides typical rise/fall times of 19/18 ps, and 2 ps of jitter while dissipating only 230 mW.

HMC723LC3C is a D-Type Flip Flop designed to support data transmission rates up to 13 Gbps, and clock rates up to 13 GHz. The HMC723LC3C supports both positive and negative edge triggering and inputs to the device may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled and propagation delay is typically 105 ps. The HMC723LC3C typically provides rise/fall times of 19/17 ps and 2 ps of jitter while dissipating only 260 mW.

The HMC720LC3C, HMC721LC3C, HMC722LC3C and HMC723LC3C also feature an output level control pin which allows for signal level optimization by allowing the output voltage swing to be adjusted between 0.6 and 1.2 V. These logic devices operate from a single -3.3V DC supply, are housed in ceramic 3 x 3 mm SMT packages, and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
