M/A-COM EXPANDS FAMILY OF LOW-COST HBT HIGH LINEARITY DRIVER AMPLIFIERS

January 17, 2011
M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a leading provider of wireless radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeter wave components, today extended its family of broadband, high-linearity, driver amplifiers to include a new single-stage driver amplifier. The MAAMSS0071 features an expansive frequency range, high-linearity and reliability, which is ideal for a variety of wireless applications, including WiMAX, WiBro and UMTS/WCDMA base stations. "We have extended our driver amplifier family to provide system engineers and designers a highly robust and reliable solution at a very low cost. The MAAMSS0071 serves as an ideal replacement for the MAAMSS0014 offering and fully complements our existing single-stage driver amplifier series (MAAMSS0017, MAAMSS0048, MAAMSS0049, and MAAMSS0050) by providing a higher-gain device that is required within a transmit amplifier chain," said Gene Ungvarsky, product manager for IC Products, M/A-COM. M/A-COM's MAAMSS0071 features gain blocks with an output of P1dB levels of +26 dBm and gain of 16 dB @ 2140 MHz. Additionally, the amplifier is fabricated using the high reliability GaAs HBT process and achieves high third-order output intercept performance over a wide power range. The amplifier's broad usable bandwidth is 500 MHz to 2500 MHz, which can be optimized for a specific frequency range with external matching components. The MAAMSS0071, as with M/A-COM's existing low-cost HBT high linearity drive amplifier family, is housed in lead-free, RoHS compliant SOT-89 plastic packages. Pricing and Availability M/A-COM's MAAMSS0071 is available from stock and is priced at $1.75 in quantities of 10,000.
