NXP Semiconductors, the independent company founded by Philips, is to expand its presence in Singapore for the advancement of Wireless USB (W-USB) technology development. Over the next five years, NXP will invest over €90 M as part of its planned annual R&D investment, to make W-USB a mainstream technology enabling efficient connectivity among various consumer devices.
As part of the expansion the Innovation Center in Singapore will collaborate with the team in the US to further develop its expertise on the complete technology development lifecycle for W-USB: standardization, IC design, test and product engineering, system and software development, as well as marketing. As a result, OEMs and ODMs seeking to adopt W-USB technology will have access to a highly qualified and focused talent pool to enable rapid integration and quick time-to-market.
