As we approach the first large industry gathering of the year in June at IMS2021, it is time for marketers to plan their activities around the event or product releases for mid-year. The news that the U.S. will have enough vaccine by May for all adults gives our industry the needed confidence that many will be able to travel to the event in Atlanta. IMS is a hybrid event this year so there are numerous opportunities to promote during the physical event the week of June 6th and online event that will take place June 20-25. If you are not able to attend the physical event this year, take advantage of the attention that industry professionals will give industry news during this time. There is no better time of the year to catch everyone’s attention than mid-year when IMS takes place.
Microwave Journal's May issue will feature exclusive IMS2021 show coverage in addition to 5G technology as themes for the month. The cover feature from GSMA will delve into making 5G networks more energy efficient working toward a carbon neutral future. There are many interesting technical features like the design of very low noise amplifiers for cellular applications from Qorvo; 5G Devices testing methods by R&S; a 5G market update from Yole; a historical look at the development of EDA software by Les Besser; diffractive NLOS microwave links by Facebook; and an online piece about integrated PA topologies for 5G mMIMO by Wolfspeed. Our IMS2021 coverage will include a summary of the conferences, special events and exhibition. We also have an extended new products section including those products being featured at IMS2021 in addition to the normal listings. All advertisers in the May issue can take part in these free listings so it's important to consider the value of taking advantage of this section.
Regardless if you exhibit at IMS 2021, consider the digital and print options to highlight your new products or capabilities ranging from videos/podcasts to e-newsletters to eBooks to print ads. Did you know that as an advertiser of the print edition, your ad automatically appears in our digital edition reaching a combined total of 50,000 subscribers? Also, consider the plethora of sponsorship activities at the IMS2021 exhibition from signage to sponsorship of special events. Microwave Journal will be distributed in the delegate bags plus be given out in the publication distribution area and Microwave Journal booth. Because the issue is distributed in print and digital formats, it will be seen by subscribers that do not make it to IMS2021. Keep in mind that the Microwave Journal has the largest industry reach and is 6 times the size of the average IMS attendance so allows your message to be widely seen.
Microwave Journal will also be doing its annual IMS Show Daily newsletters and microsite. Sponsors can get a dedicated email to that audience prior to or during the event with multiple promotion spots in the newsletter. The IMS Show Daily microsite will feature our May cover story and complete IMS coverage, industry news, IMS Twitter Feed and Frequency Matters episodes with show coverage.
Whether or not you are physically participating in IMS this year, be sure to get your message out to the industry for new products and capabilities by using digital and print opportunities to highlight your products and services. Let us help you. Try something new like a video in our digital edition, belly band, augmented reality scanning of your print ad, podcast series or video interview with one of our editors to get noticed for your mid-year accomplishments. We hope to see many of you in Atlanta in June!
