Transline Technology, a California-based printed circuit board manufacturer, has been recognized by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for 100 percent on-time delivery and zero quality deffects for 12 consecutive months for the year 2012. TTI also received this award for the year 2011, which means that they have had a 24 consecutive month track record of delivering 100 percent on time delivery and zero defects in total.
Aeroflex Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp., announced that it has added support for Bird Technologies' through-line Bird Wideband Power Sensors (WPS) to the industry leading 3550 Hand-held Radio Test System. As of 28 December, HUBER+SUHNER acquired the assets of Astrolab Inc. based in Warren, New Jersey at a non-disclosed price. The deal will be financed from own resources. With its patented minibend® and microbend® cable assemblies, Astrolab is mainly active in high tech niche markets like space & defence and offers high end radio frequency solutions for industrial markets. This year Astrolab recorded net sales of around USD $20 million and a profit margin well above industry average.
Apple’s iPhone 5 and Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones have provided LTE-enabled handset shipments a substantial lift in 2012 – even if it has not necessarily assisted the 4G mobile operators with “each and every” LTE handset sold.
Although 2012 turned out to be an off year for RF power amplifiers and devices for wireless infrastructure the market still held its own. The current year should be viewed as a breathing space before both segments resume stable and moderate growth after an explosive 2011.
