The Sentinel-5 Precursor platform and the TROPOMI instrument have been integrated to form the satellite which will be leaving the UK for testing. Airbus Defence and Space will deliver the spacecraft to Intespace in Toulouse, France, for final system level testing.
The Airbus Defence and Space built C-Band radar instrument for the Copernicus Sentinel-1B satellite is on its way to ‘meet’ its spacecraft at Thales Alenia Space (TAS), Italy.
Launched on 3 April, ESA’s Sentinel-1A satellite has already delivered its first radar images of Earth. They offer a tantalising glimpse of the kind of operational imagery that this new mission will provide for Europe’s ambitious Copernicus environmental monitoring programme.
