Linear Tech's energy monitoring Hot Swap Controller enables 100A Board Designs

Linear Technology Corp. introduces the LTC4282, an energy monitoring Hot Swap controller with dual MOSFET drive to enable 100A and higher current board designs. The LTC4282 ensures safe board insertion and removal from live 2.9V to 33V backplanes by controlling external N-channel MOSFETs to gently power up capacitors, avoiding sparks, connector damage and system glitches.

Linear's high efficiency synchronous boost controller reduces thermal stress

Linear Technology Corp. announces the LTC3769, a synchronous step-up DC/DC controller that replaces the boost diode with a high efficiency N-channel MOSFET, increasing efficiency and maximizing output current capability. This controller produces 24 V at up to 5 A output from a 12 V input with up to 98 percent efficiency, making it ideal for automotive, industrial and medical applications where a step-up DC/DC converter must have low heat dissipation in a small solution size.

Linear introduces ideal diode bridge controller that minimizes power loss and heat

Linear Technology Corp. introduces the LT4321, an ideal diode bridge controller that replaces two diode bridge rectifiers with low-loss N-channel MOSFET bridges to increase the available power and reduce heat dissipation in a Power over Ethernet Powered Device (PoE PD). IEEE 802.3 PoE specifications require PDs to accept DC supply voltages of any polarity over their Ethernet inputs.

Linear introduces isolated 8-Port PoE PSE controllers

Linear Technology Corp. introduces the LTC4290/LTC4271 isolated 8-port power source equipment (PSE) controller chipset designed for use in IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) Type 1- and Type 2-compliant Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) systems. The LTC4290/4271 provides 8 independent PSE channels for simpler lower component count designs, reduced board space and ultimately reduced total solution costs.

Linear's PowerPath prioritizer eases power system design with multiple input sources

Linear Technology Corp. introduces the LTC4417, a triple-supply prioritized PowerPath™ controller for 2.5 to 36 V systems. The controller selects the highest priority valid supply among three inputs to power the load. Priority is defined by pin assignment, while a supply is considered valid after it has been inside a voltage window set by 1.5 percent accurate undervoltage and overvoltage thresholds for 256ms.
