COMSOL Inc., the leader in multiphysics simulation software, announced the release of major new additions to the COMSOL simulation platform. The latest version of COMSOL Multiphysics, version 4.3b, introduces five new application-specific modules and expanded modeling and analysis tools. Lockheed Martin has integrated two of the most important components onto its fourth Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite for the U.S. Navy. Recently engineers mated the multi-beam assembly, which hosts 16 ultra-high frequency (UHF) antennas for distributed, global communications coverage. Earlier this year, the team delivered and integrated the vehicle’s communications system module. With bus and payload now together, the satellite is entering its first system check-outs before progressing to environmental test.

RFMW Ltd. announces design and sales support for the RFPA2026, 700 to 2700MHz, 2W power amplifier module from RFMD. The RFPA2026 is a 3-stage module with independent bias control for each stage plus the ability to bypass the first stage to reduce gain and power consumption. With all stages active, the RFPA2026 provides 38dB of gain at 2140MHz with a corresponding P1dB of 33dBm.

SAGE Millimeter's model SSP-24303-42-D1 is a low cost, production ready K-Band FMCW ranging and directional sensor module. The center frequency of the module is set at 24.125 GHz with +/-150 MHz frequency modulation bandwidth and +3 dBm nominal output power. The sensor operates from a single +5 .0 Vdc power supplier and typically draws 250-mA current and requires 0 to +15 volts voltage swing for electrical tuning.

Based on 2012 shipment data, where cellular module revenues grew 21 percent YoY, ABI Research expects to see a further increase in shipments, reaching nearly 100 million units by 2015.
