Technical Education Webinar Series
Title: Silicon Technologies for 5G/Millimeter Wave Phased Array Systems
Date: September 27, 2017
Time: 8am PT / 11am ET
Sponsored by: GLOBALFOUNDRIES
Presented by: Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay
This webinar explores radio interface architecture, key figures of merit and chip partitioning options for different phased array-based millimeter wave applications, with special emphasis on millimeter wave 5G. The webinar also discusses the feasibilities of various silicon technologies (bulk CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS, and partially and fully depleted SOI) in these applications and how these technologies can address some of the key performance challenges.
Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay is a Director in the GlobalFoundries Strategic Applications organization and based at GF Fab 10, East Fishkill, NY. His work is currently focused on hardware architecture, technology evaluations and market studies for various RF and millimeter wave applications. Prior to joining GF, he managed a design enablement group for wireless applications and led RF strategic applications and marketing at IBM Microelectronics. From 2000 to 2007, Dr. Bandyopadhyay was with Intel, where his work concentrated on silicon photonics and signal integrity in RF and mixed-signal SoCs.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay did his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India and his post-doctoral research at Oregon State University, Corvallis. He has more than 15 publications in international journals, wrote a book chapter on optical photodetectors and holds 5 U.S. patents.
