Title: Five Things to Know About WLAN 802.11ax and Why Testing is More Important than Ever Before

Date: May 4, 2017

Time: 8am PT/ 11am ET

Sponsored by: Rohde & Schwarz

Presented by: Martin Muenchow, Technical Trainer, and Reiner Stuhlfauth, Technology Marketing Manager

Abstract:

Wireless connectivity, which has been successfully implemented all over the world, has gone through some tremendous evolutionary steps. Legacy WLANs have introduced physical layer functionality such as wider bandwidth, MIMO and higher-order modulation schemes, achieving higher throughput. To tackle the challenges of crowded networks, the upcoming new standard 802.11ax will now focus on increasing overall efficiency. To make the evolution of WLAN understandable, this webinar will present the technological aspects in moving forward from 802.11ac to 802.11ax, current challenges and the resulting motivation to increase efficiency. To ensure the success of future WLAN 11ax devices and services, it is obvious that tests must be conducted to verify interworking. The T&M experts will explain the challenges that are encountered when performing RF measurements such as modulation quality analysis, spectrum verification, Tx power and receiver sensitivity, covering the entire lifecycle of a device, from R&D to production to conformance testing.

Attendees will learn:
- How WLAN11ax is going to improve the efficiency of the frequency spectrum
- The technological details of 11ax
- The importance of RF testing for ensuring the long-term success of this wireless connectivity
- The challenges involved in RF testing
-Insights into the testing application range from R&D to production

Who should attend?

  • Chipset and module vendors
  • Chipset manufacturers for TV sets, set-top boxes and radios
  • EMC test house engineers
  • TV and radio network operators
  • Car manufacturers and car system integrators (automotive)

Presenter Bios:

Reiner Stuhlfauth is a technology marketing manager for wireless communications at Rohde & Schwarz headquarters in Munich, Germany. He focuses on wireless communications technology and T&M aspects in cellular and non-cellular radio technologies. In this role, he promotes test and measurement solutions for e.g. LTE, 5G and WLAN. Some years ago he published a book on HSPA technology and measurement aspects. Reiner holds a degree in communications engineering from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Martin Muenchow is a technical trainer responsible for vector signal generation and analysis. In this role, he promotes test and measurement solutions of signal generators and spectrum analyzers toward the Sales and Application teams. Martin holds a degree in communications engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, Germany.
