Agilent in LTE & Wireless - Webcast Series 2014
Title: Carrier Aggregation: Fundamentals and Deployments
Date: January 23, 2014, 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET
Presenter: Manuel Blanco, Product Planning and Marketing Engineer, Agilent’s LTE Conformance and DVT Test Systems
LTE-Advanced is one of the major 3GPP Releases meant to address the 4G IMT-Advanced requirements not met by previous Releases of LTE. Carrier Aggregation (CA) is currently the most demanded LTE-Advanced feature because it provides the technology to support higher peak data rates in deployments with fragmented use of spectrum - which happens to be the most common scenario.
Due to the large number of frequency bands defined so far for LTE and the possibility offered by the 3GPP Release 10 to aggregate any of each, the result is a fairly complex array of CA band combinations. The analysis of requirements, development, and field deployment will be driven by network operators wanting to win the data speed race. This webcast describes the technical fundamentals of CA as a technology, its motivation as well as the different types of carrier aggregation that will be deployed by early adopters.
Manuel Blanco is a Product Planning and Marketing engineer for Agilent’s LTE Conformance and DVT Test Systems. He joined Agilent after the former AT4 wireless Systems business unit was acquired in 2012. In 2006, Manuel began his career with AT4 wireless as software developer for WiMAX Conformance test applications and actively participated in the WiMAX Forum activities. In the last 8 years, Manuel has occupied several positions including R&D and Field Applications engineer which has let him spend long periods of time working overseas. Since early 2012, Manuel has been a Product Manager for the Agilent’s LTE Test Systems. Manuel holds both a Master of Science (MSc) and a Master of Research (MRes) in electrical and computers engineering from the University of Málaga, Spain.
