The busiest month of the year for RF/microwave industry trade shows has just started. First up is European Microwave Week (EuMW) taking place Oct 5-10 in Rome. It includes 3 conferences; the European Microwave Conference, European Radar Conference and European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference. This is the largest microwave trade show outside of North America with an exhibition, MicroApps, Workshops, Defense Forum and more. While traffic varies some depending on the country it is held in, it attracts most of key decision makers in the industry and has a very high quality conference. It typically rotates now between, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Nuremburg and Rome – all certainly nice places to visit.
During the same first week in Oct there is also Military Communications (MILCOM) in Baltimore and Association of Old Crows (AOC) in Washington DC which focuses on EW applications. MILCOM is a large show covering all technologies related to military communications while AOC is a smaller focused show specific to just EW community. Both attract the large military OEMs and other smaller companies that supply technologies to these markets.
The following week is the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA) event which covers applications of antenna, radar and other electromagnetic measurement technologies. It takes place Oct 12-17 in Tuscan, AZ. This is a smaller focused show but draws most of the well-know experts involved in EM measurement activities.
Then the last week in October is the China International Conference & Exhibition on Microwave and Antenna (IME/China) taking place Oct 29-31 in Shanghai. This is primarily an exhibition that is about half EMC/EMI companies and half microwave companies but one of the largest in China. It attracts many of the local Chinese microwave companies that you might not see at any other shows.
That completes your trip around the world in October for trade shows. If you plan to attend any of these events, Microwave Journal will have representatives attending each one so look us up.
