The next generation of wireless and wired communications (S data & video) are reaching ever increasing frequencies and require much greater bandwidth than previous radio delivery systems. As the frequency and bandwidth requirements have risen from hundreds of megahertz to multiple gigahertz, the performance of passives also need to step up to these new performance demands. This article describes the challenges of developing higher frequency and bandwidth wire wrapped ferrite RF passives, as well as some of the ways MiniRF is addressing these challenges and manufacturing ferrites for the next generation of communications technology.

A high performance micro-size balun saves biasing components, board space, and minimizes DC issues in a package 65% smaller than the competition.

The MRFCP0016 coupler (Patent Pending) is designed for applications that require very small, low cost, and highly reliable surface mount components.

The MRFCP6762 16 dB coupler is flat to 1.8 GHz and provides 20 dB return loss. These 75 Ohm couplers are designed for next gen CATV systems.

MiniRF introduces MRFSP0012. Mid-band insertion loss is typically 0.75 dB with 25 dB isolation. Amplitude balance is typically <0.1 dB while phase balance is <1° with a max. of 2.0°.

The MRFCP0015 coupler is designed for applications that require very small, low cost, and highly reliable surface mount components. Applications may be found in broadband, wireless and other communications systems. These units are built Lead-Free and RoHS  compliant and feature welded wire construction for increased reliability.
